Alaska - Tracy Arm Fjord - Diamond Princess

Hi,
I am going on the Diamond Princess to Alaska in July 2007. We really want to go to Tracy Arm Fjord on an excursion, except it is not offered by Princess. Most of the private excursions leave too late/get back too late for our schedule. Has anyone had any luck with getting Princess to add a tour at an ealier time? Or, how might i get in touch in a chat forum with other princess cruisers to look into chartering a boat which would leave earlier? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

One idea might be to do a Google search for glacier tours Whittier, or wherever else you might wish to tour from. That might provide you with some useful leads.

I know we did a day cruise out of Whittier a few years ago with a company then called 26 glacier tours. It was an all day affair on a high speed catamaran, and we went right up to the crumbling glaciers. Absolutely spectacular!

We are also going on the Diamond Princess but in late May. We plan to go on a Tracy Arm Fjord Glacier tour. We are still in the planning stage but there are several tour operators that depart from Juneau leaving at 9am and returning at 5pm. This allows lots of time as Princess arrives at 8am and leaves at 9pm. You can google tracy arm fjord cruise operators. We are currently looking at a website www.auknutours.com. Hope this helps.

our problem is that our cruise gets in at 6:30 and leaves at 4, too early for most excursions. However, i was just successful in booking a great trip with a private tour operator called "Harv and Marvs". We are chartering their boat. They do a great trip limited to 6 passengers so we are really looking forward to a personal experience. Look them up. -- waterart
