May 2010 cruise to Alaska

Planning a trip part cruise and part land to Alaska in May 2010. We are tentatively booked on Island Princess. We have the option of Island Princess or Diamond Princess. Any info on ships and info on trip of places to see/things to do will be greatly appreciated. Leaving from Vancouver going to Fairbanks. Ports are Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay Nat'l Park (scenic cruising) and College Fjord. Land is Whittier/Mt. McKinley, Denali, Fairbanks. Thanks for any info given.

I love both ships; but given a choice for Alaska, I would prefer Island Princess, simply because the Horizon Court is forward instead of aft like on Diamond Princess. After you've been on deck for a while you can go inside, have something warm, and enjoy a spectacular panoramic view from the comfort of Horizon Court, a view you can't get on the other ship.

Ketchikan is good for just kickin' around; or the whale watching cruises are good there. In Juneau you should see the Mendenhall Glacier--by helicopter, kayak, Zodiak, or just a tour bus to the visitor's center. And in Skagway the White Pass Railroad is the "must do."

White Pass Railroad in Skagway....yes, it's a must do...been there 3 times and going again in May myself....Maybe see you there....I will be the good looking old guy:-)...well, maybe just old guy:-) Happy Sailing.
