formal evenings

we are going on star princess at teh end of this mth (march) and want to know if you have to attend the formal evening??? also what do you wear for these accasions?? i do not have ball gowns or coctail dresses and not sure what the teenage children would wear ??

You don't have to participate in the formal evenings - just go to the buffet instead of the dining room. But it doesn't have to be too formal - just suit and tie or good dress like you might wear to a wedding will suffice.

Have seen teenagers in everything from a tux to nice slack/dockers and shirt (not T shirt) with or without a ties. Most teens don't want to really dress up but do get out of the Ts and jeans/shorts for formal nights.

Don't purchase a ball gown or cocktail dress for formal nights unless you plan on crusing a lot. Nice pants or skirt and fancy top or sweater (doesn't need to be beaded or sequined)looks very nice. It is preferred that men wear dress slacks, a coat, and tie but if he doesn't have a coat then I've seen men without them. There is always the option to rent a tux rather than bring one.

IMO: Go to dinner in the dining room that night rather than the buffet unless you always prefer the buffet.

Formal nights are great and you should experience at least one of them. Have your family picture taken, it will be a wonderful treasure from your experience. Best wishes!

I agree participate in the formal night in you restaurant. You will see everything from the very formal with jewels to dockers and a wind breaker.

It is a great night to have the family photo taken, perhaps to use on holiday cards as we do. Don't worry no one is judging you no matter what you chose to wear. Just enjoy the evening.
