Has anyone experienced any changes in their itinerary due to the awful weather in the Caribbean? My husband and I are scheduled to sail on the Caribbean Princess on October 15th and we are concerned about all the depressions that are out there. We are sailing the Eastern Caribbean.

Geri,

It is the duty of the Captain to make determinations if it is safe to go to ports in bad weather.
I have been on cruises where the itineary has changed. No worries for me.
But, some get very concerned about this.
Planning your cruise & places to see of course you may be upset, but, safety comes first.

Hope you enjoy your cruise & avoid foul weather.

Cathy

Hi Geri,

Try not to focus to hard on the weather or the depressions that a Island may be having. If there's bad weather that captain will take you to another Island and when they do, the Island that's expecting you usually are ready to accomodate you with tours etc. The cruise line is always trying to keep passengers safe and happy. So go on your trip and really enjoy yourself. Safety is at the top of the Cruise Director's mind.

geri, both of the above posters offered some great advise. Don't get too caught up in what the weather is going to be doing, as stated the captians main priority is to make sure that the passengers of his ship have a great time but first priority is to make sure that the passengers are safe. We have been on many ships during the October "hurricane" season, and never knew there was bad weather out there. In fact while Katrina was in the gulf we were doing a western caribbean and never saw any bad weather until the day we docked back into Ft Lauderdale. If the captain has to miss a port, you will either be taken to another port of call, or you will have a great sea day. In fact, the sea days are some of my favorites, there isso much to see and do on the ships. Just go and don't focus on the weather, and plan on having the time of your life.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. We are not novice cruisers, in fact this will be our 40th cruise. I usually don't book fall ones until the end of Nov., so this is the first one smack in the middle of hurricane season. I will stop watching the Caribbean weather and get busy with my packing.
