Free internet access?

Hi,

I'm planning a cruise on the Sapphire Princess (new zealand/Sydney). Just wondering if I will have free internet access if I bring my own laptop? Any other suggestions?

Nope, unfortunatly you'll have a cost first, for the card to allow you access (usually around $40. to $45. through most lines. Then per minute online charges ranging from around .50 cents per min if pought individually or blocks of minutes in bulk about half that cost.

Hello Neil; Hi Sioux, and welcome to cruise-chat;

I don't know what the fee for the wireless access card is but the ship's computers were a flat .75 cents per minute unless you bought a package, which brought it down to about .50 cents. There was no fee to set up an account for the ship's computer--you just swipe your cruise card.

Just a word or caution: it was very very slow, and often not available at all.

It's quite frustrating to have to pay .50 per minute & get a lousy connection at that. That price equates to much higher per minute considering.
