We are planning to cruise on the Diamond in Nov to Hawaii. Need to know if we will be able to use the balcony while cruising over and back or will it be too cold. How are the seas at that time of the year. Also, I notice that there are no dive excursions on board the ship. Does anyone know why?
On Diamond to Hawiaa in Nov, you've picked among the most desirable times of the year. Not too crowded and the weather and seas on the Pacific should be ideal. It can get a little chilly at night (50's) but bring appropriate clothing and you should be able to use you balcony throughout the trip.
Hi Sam, We did the Hawaii cruise last year (left on Dec 5) & had a balcony. I wouldn't say the balcony was unusable on the way to Hawaii & back but it was cool and unless the sun was shinning it was a little uncomfortable to stay there to long. I hid out in the indoor pool area during the day & the temps. were just about right. The water temps in the pools were cold at times & not a lot of people were using them either. We're also going back to Hawaii this Nov on the Diamond & we decided not to get a balcony & save the money for tours. It was enjoyable once you reach the islands but we didn't get enough use out of it to justify the cost.
The seas when we went last year were a little rough due to a big storm in the northwest US but it did calm down a few days out to sea & it was OK on the way back. My wife had the patch & only used a couple of them. In general not many people were sea sick. I've seen much worse off the coast of Bermuda.
Once we hit the islands the temps at that time of year will be great. The water at Diamond Head was a little cool but still not to cold.
I looked over the tour papers from last year & as you said there are no dive tours offered (strange) but I'm sure you can find something on your own if you do a search on Google. I don't dive so I didn't pay attention to the dive tours once we got off the ship.
