Well, here we go! It's finally our turn to go on a cruise. Today is moving day. The goal is to fly from frigid Edmonton to scenic Long Beach where we will spend the night and board the Island Princess tomorrow in San Pedro for our much anticipated cruise to Hawaii.
We chose to fly to Long Beach rather than to LAX thinking we could avoid the LA traffic and be closer to the ship. We will spend the night at the Long Beach Hyatt which I believe is 10 minutes by cab from the airport and 10 minutes from the ship. Hope this works out. Tomorrow, we board ship and sail to Hawaii. Am I ever excited. My wife did all the packing yesterday. Would not let me help her. Something to the effect that"packing for a cruise is too important to be left to a man". Go figure! Aloha! |
That's very interesting; I do my own packing--won't let my wife near my stuff; we have entirely different techniques.
Good call on flying into Long Beach--much easier. Have a great flight and a smooth embarkation. Looking forward to your posts. |
I'm probably too late but, Bob & Bev have a wonderful time!

Have a great cruise. Now that you are on your way we know that soon....we will be boarding as you are leaving.
Agree with your DW - packing for a cruise is something that is best left up to her. I can just see DH's tux pants left at home. |
O.K. Bob & Bev, you're on your way! I watched you pass the breakwater at 4:40. God Bless and have a wonderful and safe trip.

We are on our way!
At the moment, we are 21 hours out of LA heading to Hawaii. Temps about 60F, seas 1.5 to 4.0 feet (almost flat)and winds moderate blowing across the starboard bow. A little too cool for the balcony. The ship is beautiful, and full of passengers. I am not sure about the internet from the ship. It was down until about two hours ago. One of the rooms is still shut down so there is a line up to get on-line. Once on, a little slow but it works. Flying into Long Beach rather than LAX was a good move. The Hyatt Long Beach is a wonderful hotel if you need a room pre or post cruise. Tonight is our first formal night so that should be fun. Looking good so far! Aloha |
Hey f-mattox
Your on the same cruise as us. Sure looking forward to it http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif We were on the Coral (sister ship) and loved the ship. It will like coming home when we board the Island. |
kpalmer7, hello and welcome to cruise-chat;
Great! You are the first one I've heard from on the same cruise. There is probably a roll call on that other site but I like it here. Will look forward to meeting you. |
