No one just falls overboard. You have to work really hard at it. What a bunch of twits, I sure hope they get charged for the rescue expenses. I've tried to remain silent on this, but these incidents are going to ruin it for reasonable passengers. Oh well, there's no fix for stupid.
It's the first time I've ever heard anyone say that it's easier to tread water without any clothes on. My impression is that your clothes would keep you warmer longer & give you a better chance of survival.
It would be a tough call--one I hope I never have to make.
The clothes would keep you warmer but, as Dave pointed out, they can also be used to make a floatation device. I guess water temperature would be the deciding factor. Our stupid friends are just lucky this didn't happen in Alaska.
I just saw the news this morning, they said that guy is an Air Force Academy cadet! And he could face disciplinary action after a school inquiry is complete. The woman is a sophomore at the University of my state ,Colorado.

Im sorry, but unless you are doing something stupid like sitting on the rail, I see no possible way these people just "fell" off the balcony. How stupid do they think we are...DUH
These people really are giving cruise ships a bad rap. I agree...you can't fix stupid. These people that jump/fall off or whatever do need to pay hefty fines for having to rescue them.
How's this; the fine will be determined on the quality of the entry into the water. I mean if it's an aesthetic entry with some entertainment value, the fine should be lighter than if it is an awkward, clumsy, naked entry.
