karen m,
While you can drop the assigned table for personal choice, there really isn't a need to do this unless you want to free up some slots for those trying to get assigned seating. The restaurant management staff will have a table set up on embarkation day for those wanting to switch. Trust me, if you show up with assigned seating wanting to drop it, they will accomodate you. They really try to push people towards the anytime dining option. But, Personal Choice means everyone can go to the anytime restaurants - even those with assigned seatings. Many people have assigned seating and then go to the anytime restaurants a couple times during their cruise. They actually have more choices.
