Hello Bob & Bev;
I'm going on the same trip on April 26; I want to reinforce what Irvine Traveler says about booking shore excursions in advance. I just started reserving mine tonight on-line and some were already waitlisted--so don't put it off.
Day 4 to Hawaii. Dinner last night we tried the Rib Eye steak, more like a breakfast steak.
As you know Kuai is a tender port and I do not know in advance what rental facilities will be there. I will investigate it when we arrive and post again. I plan to check out the internet for the port town today to see what is available.
It is getting warmer today. There are many cruisers in shorts today. Seas are still cooperating and the ride is a gentle sway.
Hello Irvine Traveler,
glad the ride is smooth. The rib eye sounds a little disapointing.
I'm a little confused: I know Lahaina on Maui and Kona on the Big Island are tender ports; but thought the ship docked at
Nawiliwili on Kauai (?). Please let me (us) know as this could alter my plans.
Sounds like everything is pretty good so far.
Look forward to your updates.
I think I remember reading that at Nawiliwili Princess has had to tender depending on what other ships are docked that day.

The Princess info. states we will be at anchor for Nawiliwili, Kuai I assumed that ment we would tender to the dock. I have checked out web sites for that location today and it does say some ships dock. We will have to see.
Bob & Bev, there is a site for Kuai that offers a shuttle to and from the ship to the Lihue airport rental car facility. Search on Nawiliwili, Kuai rental cars, I plan to use it and will book later tonight. There is also a site that is linked, adventureinhawaii.com that offers tours at a rate less than Princess, now that you can drive to there locations. Check it out.
We are departing Hilo as I type. It is a short visit but I heard good comments regarding the tours at the dinner table tonight. We took the mule wagon ride and as advertised it is a short duration mule wagon ride, about 35 minutes after a 75 minute bus ride to get the the Valley of the Kings. Great scenery on the bus trip, waterfalls, canyons and little villages.
We will be passing a lava tube spilling into the ocean at 9:30 PM tonight and it is supposed to be visible from the ship. We are all looking foward to that.
How did you make out with your car rental in Kauai? I know you have a few days before you get there. Was there availability from the ship? I checked out your website and it seems that you take a bus from the ship to the airport to grab a car. Same when you drop the car off. Have you booked a car? Please let us know how that works out.
