We recently returned from a 14 day cruise on the Caribbean Princess. Attended MUTS and it was great.
Movies Under the Stars:
I had read quite a bit about Movies Under the Stars, a unique, innovative idea Princess has introduced on three of their ships and will also have it on the new Crown Princess that will sail a Caribbean itinerary out of the port of New York. The write-ups do not do it justice; it is a fabulous idea. If you’re a movie buff, run to the phone and call your agent as soon as you can and book a Princess ship that has this feature. I guarantee you will absolutely love it. The screen is unlike anything you or I have seen. It is a 300 sq. ft. screen, with a LED projection system that allows you to watch movies during bright sunlight the same as you do at night. You can view it from three decks. You can also view it while swimming, while relaxing in a hot tub, or cuddled up with your loved one under a blanket, while a waiter fetches you a drink and pop-corn. Tell me, how in the world can you beat that. They usually show four or five movies during the day and two first run movies at night, and fill in with concerts of famous entertainers like Tom Jones, Tina Turner and you name it and they have it. For movie buffs it’s worth the price of a cruise.
The only mosqito's at sea, once a ship is underway - will be the Mosqito's sold at the bars and/or available from you server while you sit back, relax and enjoy MUTS!
I have sailed twice on this cruise, the same time each yr. The best around FeB.4. We got to watch the super bowl and made many new friends. I was a lover of the drive in and this really takes you back. Have fun!!
Hey Penny, I heard that the Sun Princess doesn't have Movies Under The Stars, have you heard the same thing?? Also, I read on another post that Princess allows you to buy booze in thier store on the boat and you can take it back to your room? Huh, I think I'll have to call the cruise line to set the record strait.
We just returned from sailing on Crown Princess, we went to 2 movies under the stars, it was fun, try it, we saw Failure to Launch and Prime. First night it was a little more crowded, but still had a lounge chair, they serve popcorn and you get a blanket.
Hi Scott,
I don't remember whether the Sun had MUTS or not. We haven't been on the Sun in 3 years, and I don't remember. Since she's a sister ship of the Sea, you'd think they would be the same. I'm usually in the casino, and my hubby couldn't remember either. I called today to see if I could cancel my flights, but they said I'd loose $150/pp. Oh well, guess I have to check everything and pray it will make it!!
No, not the cruise, just the flight down. We'll have to change planes in Atlanta, nothing flies direct to Ft. Lauderdale from Huntsville. I would rather drive than hassle with 3 hours of security screening, checking all of our luggage (including snorkeling gear), then having to stay in the sterile area in Atlanta until our connector leaves, praying that we'll have clothes when we get to Ft. Lauderdale. Oh well, guess I'll just have to start praying!
Wow....itinerary is getting a little too crowded to be "relaxing", but sounds like Movie Under the Stars is a real must-see/do!
What is MUTS? Never heard of it....as long as it's not SMUTS, I'm happy.
(And God, I would HOPE there isn't any porn around. Bad enough to have PS Police reigning in comments to some gay guy cruisin'....llllliterally.)
Show a great movie, pray the popcorn is outrageous, and have a good time. All I want!

No, we didn't have to make reservations. It does get busy, however, there are plenty of places to view the movie from. A lot of people go to the shows (live shows), the nightclubs, and the casino, so I don't think you'll have any problems. Have a wonderful cruise!
