As I recall we did have reserve seating on the trains for Princess cars, also to Whittier we were in a Alaskan Rail car with assigned tables. Which side of the train you were on didn't really matter, each side had its plus and minuses. Never had a problem taking pictures, people would gladly move for you on our trip.

Does Princess have the glass domed rail cars? I have seen pictures of this in brochures and magazines.
