Colton's dad,

the incident occurred approx. five miles off Port Everglades (not Port Canaveral), and the ship has returned there with tug assistance. At this time, it is not clear whether the ship hit a submerged object or whether this is one of the infamous Mermaid pod problems several other ships equipped with that kind of propulsion have had in the past. Cunard hopes that the ship will be able to continue its voyage tonight.
Best regards,

Raoul Fiebig

The QM2 just came out of drydock in November, so I can't imagine they'd have such a major mechanical problem so soon. Then again...

AP now reporting that the ship hit the "side of the shipping channel".

Oops. Someone just got their ticket pulled.
