First Timers-- weather ?

Hey my boyfriend and i are thinking about going on a cruise in september. the rates seem really cheap then and we are just college students so we are definitely on a budget! lol. i was just wondering if anyone had gone on a cruise to the western caribbean in september? is it just raining all the time or is it mostly sunny? thanks!

Fan, the weather in September is usually tropical. Cruise prices are low in September because the big vacation surge in August is over, and folks are going back to school and work, so the cruise lines find it a slow time. Also, the height of hurricane season is September and October. There's always the possibility of bad weather any time of year, and the possibility of hurricanes in the fall.

I think the price difference is definitely because of the hurricane concern. Obviously any of the crusielines steer far away from the actual hurricanes, but it's possible (more likely than, say in January) that you'll experience rain, winds etc. Most people I know that have cruised at this time however, have no major weather related concerns.

The one thing you should know is that it is also more likely the ports of call will change. So, if you are dying to go to a certain place you may want to travel when the weather is more stable (though even then the CL can change/cancel ports). And finally, if your departure destination is in Florida, it's best to plan to go a day ahead (or more) to circumvent any potential weather delays.
