Planning 1st cruise. What's the Sea Princess like?
Hi all.

We're planning an August 2011 10 day Alaska inside passage cruise out of SF. The Sea Princess is the only Princess ship that serves San Francisco. What's she like?

We're not party people or gamblers, or big on Vegas style entertainment, in our early 60s.

What's there to do besides hanging out at the pool or bars?

Hi Dennis, welcome to CruiseReviews! The Sea Princess is the first Princess ship I sailed and she's still my favorite. She's an easy ship to get around, yet she's large enough to never feel crowded. They have upgraded her and she now has the Sanctuary area, which is a great place to hang out. Since you're doing Alaska, you might not be out on deck much, but then again you might. You can get half day passes for the Sanctuary, which were very reasonable. I believe they put the international cafe on her, too. The cafe offers some free/some for extra pastries/sandwiches and gelato. There is an internet cafe, a library, the MUTS (movies under the stars), and loads of nooks and crannies to read/relax.

The two times we sailed her we had the best food and crew. I was sad when she left for Australia because I didn't think she'd be back to the US.

I don't think you'll be disappointed at all.

Thanks Penny. I've heard it's pretty nice.

Me and my girlfriend had our first cruise on the Sea Princess around the Caribbean in October 2009 and we were very very impressed.

The food was fantastic, the ship was very very clean.

Due to this being our first cruise we wanted a slightly smaller ship and to us this ship was massive, the cruise was perfect and we are now looking at another Caribbean Cruise in October on Allure of the Seas due to the lack of choice Princess Cruises are providing in 2011 around the Caribbean.

We would definately sail on Princess again you will love it.

Well we booked today! Balcony room midship. I think we'll have a grand time, we've been thinking about this for 36 years, might as well get it over with! :)

You'll have a great time. Alaska is an amazing destination, and your cabin sounds perfect. Bring warm clothing as you'll want to be standing outside as you sail past the glacier(s), listening to the commentary being broadcast by the Alaska expert onboard. Clothing you can layer is warmest and most versatile.
