Two decks below Baja Deck is Dolphin Deck and all the cabins are mini-suites and the balconies are considerably larger than the others and stick out farther.

If you could post a link to the deckplan that is causing your confusion I might be able to sort it out for you. I don't see any cabins "pushed out" on Baja Deck on the deckplans I'm looking at.

I think the area I am seeing is actually showing decks outlines below the Baja deck. I realize now the rooms are in color, and the gray area beyond must be the ship outline. Is that correct?

That is exactly right! You are seeing the outline of the ship. In the back you can see the larger tenders and up front, the flying bridge and the bow.

We definitely wanted a "covered" balcony in case of precipitation in Alaska and we decided to go with a BD rate instead of BC for the Baja deck. We have reserved room B718 hoping it will be a cabin without any negative impact.

Very excited to go on our first cruise next year!

I've checked the deckplans and I see absolutely nothing that would have a negative impact on B718. Have a wonderful cruise.

That pic resembles our balcony (3 connecting cabins) on the Crown only we were a little more aft.
