I saw that too and thought it was a strange thing to happen. They need one of those rear view cams that the new cars have.

In all fairness, it was probably the only choice they had; it was either increase power or slam into the pier. The original Island Princess was slammed into the pier in Skagway while trying to dock in high winds and tore a hole in the side that affected several cabins.

I'm surprised that a dock would be positioned like that in a space where a cruise ship ties up, and I'm also surprised that a small boat like that would be allowed to dock there.
those little scrawny pilings must be pulled up every week.
