I haven't done the "Voyage of the Glaciers" but it seems like most who do use the Princess transfer between Anchorage and the ship.
A couple of "must see" excursions would be either the whale-watching expedition or the helicopter tour of Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau and the White Pass Scenic Railway in Skagway.
My choices for cabin would be, first, Catagory AA mini-suite, forward on Baja Deck; quiet, good location, wondeful balconies. Or second, Catagory BA on Carib Deck; the largest balconies of the standard balcony cabins, and partially covered.
