Alaskan Cruise Sept 2013

Looking for tips on an Alaskan cruise. We are going on Princess Aug 31 leaving from Seattle. My husband is unable to do any strenuous activities as far as excursions go. We cruise every year but this is our Alaskan cruise. What is the weather like? Clothing tips? Normally I pack pretty light and do laundry on the ship. Also what are ideas to do at the ports? We normally do our own things and don't take an excursion. Any comments, touts and ideas are more than welcome!

Clothing for Alaska - any time of the cruise season - means packing for layers. It isn't necessary to bring heavy coats but I would definitely have clothes such as sweaters and windbreakers. You can easily start the day at 40 degrees and rain and end up in the 60s and sun just a couple hours later. The area you will cruising to is actually a rain forest for the most part, yes even in Alaska, so the weather is very dynamic.
