Yea! We are sailing on the Golden Princess for our second Alaskan cruise. When we left Alaska the last time, we determined that we would return there some day. May 22nd will be the day.

We have friends who live in Seattle and we will be cruising with them. I have never been to Seattle, and I am anxious to see their city, too.

They called last Sunday and said "we are cruising on May 22nd, want to go?". Silly question!

That's wonderful, Nadine; isn't it great to be able to do things so spontaneously! And traveling with friends makes it extra-special.

I haven't been on Golden Princess since her refurbishment, but we are going to Hawaii on her in October; so I'll look forward to any comments or observations you care to make.

Have a great cruise.

Rick

You will love Seattle. If you can spend a few extra days there. Congrads on the cruise. Our first Alaska Cruise was the last week of May and the weather was great..

Rick you are doing the cruise we want to do someday. Our friends says it is too many sea days, but I think not for us.

Gary, we did it two years ago on Island Princess and loved it so much we are going again. For me, there is no such thing as "too many sea days."

We are going to spend two days before the cruise and a couple days after the cruise in Seattle. Our friends will be our hosts and tour guides, which will be great.

Rick, we hope to do the Hawaii cruise someday, too. I agree that there is no such thing as too many sea days. We welcome each one of them as a time for sheer relaxation!

Yes they are right about too many sea days. That is why we are not cruising to Hawaii. We only like a max of two sea days. We had 4 last year and found it was way too many. Never again. We are port people. When we book the cruise last year the max was 2 sea days, then a port stop and then 1 sea day, but the port stop was cancel, therefore making 4 sea days. The ship loves sea days as they make more money.

I wonder how much more money he ship makes at sea. It loses excursion money and money from other tourist related items.

I really don't think the sea days would bother us. At any rate we are going to give it a try...maybe next year.

I know someone who is in the ship industry and he advis me they make lots of money on sea day as the casino is open, more people buy drinks and the shops on the ships are allow to open. People spend more money during a sea day.

Congratulations, Nadine!!!!!!!That's awesome news. I hope you enjoy the Golden, I've read great reviews.

Thank you Penny! We are excited. I think we are a little bit nuts, too. We have had the longest, coldest winter in central Illinois in decades. So what do we do when spring arrives, go to Alaska!

Well, if we had glaciers and whales in Illinois, maybe the winters wouldn't seem so dreary!
