Thanks everyone. I didn't plan on doing laundry, but good to know that there's those services onboard. Does the guest services / pursers / casino give out change, or should I plan on bringing some quarters?

Good to know about not charging for the excursions until I take them. I like that way better as well. There was an instance last time when we couldn't take an excursion, because the port got cancelled due to bad weather (Grand Cayman, on Royal Caribbean), so RCI just refunded that and the port fees by means of an onboard credit.

Hi guys.

I'm not sure whether to post this here or in the embarkation ports thread. Admin, please move if necessary. Anyway, I was looking over my documents, and Princess has a "Progressive Check-In" procedure, and it looks like you arrive according to your deck assignment. Do you know how strict they are about this? I'm on the Baja deck, and it lists my check in as 12:30 pm. However, my flight arrives into Sea-Tac at 10:30 am, so I figure it'll be closer to noon than 12:30 by the time I get my bags and get the shuttle to the pier, maybe earlier if my flight arrives early, which it has been the last couple weekends.

If it makes a difference, Princess has pier 91 in Seattle, as opposed to Pier 66.

I've heard of progressive check-ins but never experienced one. I know Princess is pretty lax about their traditional check-in. They usually state that check-in starts at 1:00 p.m. but I'm always on by 11:00--11:30. I seriously doubt if they are going to quibble about 30--60 minutes. They are as anxious to get people onboard as we are to get onboard.

Oh, and about your earlier question, they have $1 bill changers right in the self-service laundries.

Thanks f-mattox. Regarding the progressive check in, it sounds like that's more of a suggestion, from what I've seen on other websites, especially if people are arriving on Princess' shuttles, which I will be.

As far as the laundry, good to know about the change machines. I was actually going to go to the bank tomorrow and get a roll of quarters, which is one of several things I have to do tomorrow.

Something else you might want to consider if you are going to do laundry: the soap, bleach and fabric softeners are pretty expensive in the vending machines onboard. You can save money (and quarters) by packing a couple of the small sizes like you can get at the 99 Cent Store.

There's nothing that they sell on the ship that's a bargain. Try buying a couple of antacid tablets & you'll pay as much for two as a small bottle at home!

Good point, RichC; it's nice to know you can get just about anything in an emergency, but you should take whatever you think you might need, like memory cards and batteries for your cameras, and on and on . . .

Thanks guys. I did end up buying the Tide PODS detergent, and put that in my checked luggage. I never lock it, so I'll see what happens when I get my bag, whether or not it got confiscated by the TSA or the Princess security personnel.

Finishing packing tonight, then up bright and early (3:30 am Eastern Time) to head to the airport tomorrow!

Shouldn't bother TSA so long as it's identifiable as soap--and Princess could care less about something like that.

Have a great cruise.
