I once forgot my camera charger (Sony) and the camera shop had nothing comparable. Of course they wanted to sell my a new camera so I could continue taking pictures. I managed to find someone who had the exact same camera on the ship & borrowed theirs a few times.

Reminds me of the time we had to buy a memory card in Alta, Norway. This little town is within the Arctic Circle. We had no tours planned, thankfully -- so we got to see a shopping mall and supermarket, which were kind of cool.

The local stores (away from the ship) are always one of the best attractions at any port I visit. They have the best prices compared to the shops located near the piers. It's always interesting to see what they have for sale & what their prices are for food.

Asking the crew where they shop while in port is also a good idea.

We were in Greenland many years ago when we needed a new battery for our camera. The weird battery for our camera was not to be found anyway. After that trip we switched to a camera that took regular AA batteries which can be found most anywhere.

Thanks for your input everyone. I got back late last night (landing at 11:30 pm, home around 12:45, then up again at 5:45 to get ready for work).

Of course, I forgot my electric razor of all things, so I ended up just buying a manual one and shaving cream on the ship, which I didn't think was too bad price wise. $0.99 for a twin blade razor, and I think just over $3.00 for a small can of shaving cream.

I'll be honest, this cruise was a mixed bag, so maybe Princess isn't for me. I'm hoping to get a full review up in the next few days once I get my things together. They seem like they were more laid back than Royal Caribbean. As with any line, there were pros and cons.
