Ok, I am back from my first cruise. What I can definately say is that it will not be my last!
I will getting my thoughts together in the next day or so and posting a review of my trip on the Emerald Princess.
Quick preview - No real complaints and all the crew was friendly and efficient. A few "areas of improvement", but nothing that would turn me off from them.
Least favorite port with the most fun excursion - Grand Turk. The dune buggys were well worth it!

Question - Where is the best place to post a review?

Hi Phil650, welcome back http://bestsmileys.com/waving/7.gif I can't wait to read your review. There is a review section, CruiseReviews.com or you can post it here. I hope the Emerald was pleasing to you. Did you get to try the Crown Grill or Sabatinis? Did you go to the Sanctuary? I'm glad you enjoyed the Dune Buggys in Grand Turk, we did a great snorkel there.

What ship are you booking next?

Thanks Penny. I will get a review up, but it may take a couple of days. Still trying to dig out from the email hell.
We really liked the Emerald princess. She is a beautiful ship, and everybody on board was really nice. I will detail more in my review, but we had no problems.
We did not try either the Crown Grill or Sabatinis, but that was only because we are not real picky about what we eat.
The dune buggys were a BLAST! I highly recommend them to anyone wanting that kind of adventure. The beach seemed nice, and i am sure the snorkelling is great, but I am really glad I didn't wait until Grand Turk to shop.
We are not sure which ship we are booking next, but rest assured, there will be many more cruises in our future. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

Hi Phil,

Well you are on your way of becoming a "Cruise Addict....I would suggest you try different cruise lines and different ships...Each has their own Brand...you just have to do 5 or 6 cruises to find which one suits you:-)...or 7 or 20.....after 23 and soon to be 24 cruises, I can't stop...and the only therapy is go go on another one....Happy sailing in the future...

I would have to agree with you Phil, the Dune Buggies were super fun, especially the beach part, I could have stayed there all day....
You have to try different cruise lines... dont just stick with princess, I have been on 3 carnival and 2 princess now....I am leaning more towards carnival after second try for Princess but overall great time, i have a carnival coming in april with whole family and then i think i will venture outside my comfort zone

I agree with trying other lines, however, the loyalty programs are really good incentives for staying with one. I've sailed Princess, Carnival, Costa, HAL, NCL, Royal, and Celebrity. My favorite is Princess followed very closely by Costa. I still want to sail Cunard, Regent, Crystal, and Seaborn. Oh heck, I want to sail them all http://bestsmileys.com/lol/21.gif

Next year, I have to sail either Princess or Costa, it's just been too long since I've been on board a Princess ship!

I definately loved Princess, but we are also planning on trying another line. If we didn't, we wouldn't have anything to compare against.
We will probably take a short 3 night cruise out of Port Canaveral since we can get there in under an hour. I would love to find a cheap 3 night that left on a Friday afternoon. that way I could go without taking any vacation.

If I lived in Florida, I would be totally broke! Why not spend a weekend on a cruise ship instead of cleaning the house, mowing the yard, weeding, painting, etc. I should never have left Ft. Lauderdale http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...s/icon_eek.gif

Keep in mind to try a different cruise line on a 3nt cruise is not a good comparison to a 7 day Princess. For several reasons. 1)They are so cheap they draw a totally different crowd. 2)They are usually on older ships. 3)They are not in the same classification ie: Princess is in the Premium class, and the two major cruise lines that do 3/4nt cruises (Carnival,Royal Caribbean) are called Mass Market or Mainstream. Disney is an exception. They are their own product. The only other cruise line doing a short cruise (4/5 nts) is Celebrity Cruise Lines which is also in the premium class. You might be able to catch other cruise lines doing a short special sailing as I did last year on MSC. I found a special 3nt cruise.
