Welcome to cruise-chat! I know you will love Alaska as much as we do. We are taking our second cruise there in May.

Congratulations of your 30th anniversary and welcome to Cruise Chat. A cruise is a great way to celebrate. Which ship are you taking?

lowden1 03-06-2010 03:07 PM

the Sapphire Princess. We are taking along our son and daughter and their spouses.

Our son is 26 and he thinks he will be bored. He hates to sit around and do nothing.

I think he will be surprised at all the activities to do on a ship.

There is lots to do on ship on sea days. We have done transatlantic 3 times and haven't run out of things to do yet. And in Alaska spend some time watching for wildlife from the ship. And of course there are the ports with lots of choices of things to do. I've been before and we are going again in May, my spouse's first time. Alaska is a great cruise to start with.

Thanks everyone this really helps, if anyone has any ideas on what is really neat to do at the ports please let me know.

lowden1, if you'll look down the main page just a little, you'll see Alaska Port Chat. There are tons of posts there about all different kinds of excursions. You might find something that really interests you.

I hope your son will go with an open mind. There is so much to do on board ships. Since y'all are going to Alaska, the pool time might not be as great as the Caribbean. However, just watching the ocean for a possible whale or some ice flows and the shore line is magnificent. They have all kinds of different activities, trivia games, wine tasting, bingo, shops, casino, board games, library, and much, much more.

Hope this helps some!
