I used to sail Princess a few consecutive years ago and they used to be pretty good about not busting anybody's chops about bringing liquor aboard.
In fact, in San Juan, there is a liquor store right at the terminal with a sign that suggests you can bring purchases on board.
Just wondering if Princess has become more stringent these days about bringing bottles aboard and if anybody has actually had their bottles confiscated.
Hi NJRonbo, welcome to Cruise-Chat. As Dave stated, we don't endorse "smuggling" alcohol on board. Princess is very stringent about their policies. We've seen many bottles confiscated in the past few years. They do allow wine and champagne. They do scan luggage before taking it on board as well as carry-ons. Embarkation is similar to airport security now. They also have dogs in certain ports. They do offer in-room packages for purchase. Here is a link to their website for packages. Hope you have a fantastic cruise, and once again, welcome on board!
I'm going to guess that things may vary from boat to boat, but Emerald let us on 3 different days with 3 different bottles of rum. It seems that if you try to bring a lot on at once they'd rather you check it, but if it's just one they let it go.
I don't think so, Bob1958. We were on the Emerald year before last and bought a bottle of rum in Barbados that they took when we boarded. Anyway, I guess the bottom line is, we don't endorse it. If you get caught, then at least we tried to present the rules.
