Hi kl630, welcome to Cruise-Chat! Congratulations on your up-coming cruise! I hope you enjoy the Emerald as much as we did, she's a beautiful ship. If you get to go to the Crown Grill (extra fee restaurant), be sure to order the Black and Blue onion soup. It is wonderful. Also, check out the Sanctuary. It's a wonderful spot for taking pictures while coming into port.
It really doesn't matter which side you select. It will all depend on how many ships are in port when you get there. Sometimes they'll dock on the port side, sometimes on the starboard side. We've been on both and it really hasn't made any difference. On our Emerald cruise it was about 50/50.
Hope you have a marvelous cruise and enjoy Princess as much as we do. They're our favorite line, so far Best wishes!
Congratulations on your marriage, too! The Crown is a good sized ship, but the Emerald dwarfs her. She is just amazing.
Oh, I almost forgot. On deck 5, I believe, they had a cafe type area. There were sandwiches and desserts. Some were complimentary, some were extra charge. But, there was gelato. You could get 3 scoops for $1.50 and it was heavenly
Hello, we were on the Emerald 5/2010, starboard, while traveling south..."passing islands" port would give you the best view...west does not really matter to far off shore to see land, "Emerald" best cruise ever been on in every aspect...next cruise "Ruby Princess" eastern itineraty. Enjoy.....!

Penny,
The Caribbean, Crown, Emerald and Ruby are all sister ships belonging to the Caribbean Class. The Grand, Golden, and Star are all sister ships belonging to the Grand Class.
Emerald and Crown are identical (or pretty close to it - decor a little different - but not much) - we have been on both and I liked the fact that I did not have to relearn yet another deck plan. Ha ha. I love the Cafe on the 5th deck. They have a great greek salad!!!!!
