Can anyone tell me what the condition of the Caribbean Princess and Emerald are? My husband read that Emerald was showing its age already, and since the Caribbean Princess is older, I wondered how that was. I know that it was refurbished, but anyone who has any info, I would appreciate your input.

I sailed on the Caribbean Princess after I sailed on the Emerald. The Emerald was only 6 or 7 months old when I sailed her and was, of course, in perfect condition. The Caribbean was before she went into be refurbished, and even though there were a couple of areas showing wear and tear, she was spotless. If you've ever sailed on Princess, you will know what I mean. They are ALWAYS painting, replacing carpet, replacing mattresses, replacing chairs, etc. Of course, most lines do. And they are ALWAYS cleaning. So, even if the fabric might be faded, it's going to be clean. I don't know who said the Emerald was showing her age, she's only a couple of years old. Not sure what they were referring to, faded upholstery?, worn carpet?, light bulbs needing to be replaced?, someone spilled something?

I have spoken with various crew members and they have all told me the same thing. They replace items on board, constantly. There are some things that they have to do in dry dock, but most everything is done while sailing or in port.

I wouldn't say the Emerald is showing any signs of age yet but it you said the Grand the answer would be yes. Of course the mattresses are hard but I really think they started out that way when the ship was new.

We were on the Emerald 5/2020...did not see any sign of aging...but the again we were not looking for something wrong...everything was perfect that we could tell...I did hear my wife comment about a bikini being to small for this very lovely lady...but I thought it was perfect. "Best Ship" Best Cruise Line...ever been on.

Dear KL630,

Emerald showing her age??? I do not think she is a day over 4?? We were on her in December 09. Perfect - perfect - beautiful. If she is showing her age, my eyesight is definitely off.

We sailed aboard the Caribean 6/10 and the ship was like new and crew were great, no sign of aging there.
