Alaska: Post-Cruise Tour

We Planning a Northbound cruise upon the Coral Princess next July; we are a family of 4 including 2 teens; this will be our first visit to Alaska and, most probably the last.
We will have 3-4 days and depart either Anchorage or Fairbanks back home.
We will be so glade if somebody advice us about the following:
1] Pros & Cons to have the Princess Post cruise tour: Anchorage, Denali and Fairbanks;
2] If we will rent a car; we are looking for a itinerary for 3-4 days, and
3] A recommended tour agent.

I can't really think of any "cons" to a post-cruise Princess Tour. For myself, I would do the tour first and then relax on a Southbound cruise; this would shorten the flight home and probably save money too. But either way is wonderful.

Renting a car is a good way to see Alaska on your own. Personally, I'm not that adventurous anymore; but if you have teenagers, you are young enough to enjoy it.

Coral Princess is a good choice; it is a terrific ship, and of course Princess knows Alaska probably better than anybody.

Actually in Princess's magazine (yes I know it's skewed towards Princess) they do cost comparisons of their packages compared to a land tour\cruise package or just a land package. Their packages come out less per day than doing it on your own. Of course, they are comparing apples to apples. By that I mean, they're using comparable restaurants, transportation and accomodations. Not KFC, Motel 6, and a Kia Rio. (Not that there's anything wrong with those, it's just not what Princess would use for their pacakges).
