Dining room attire is getting more relaxed all the time
It certainly is. On a recent RC cruise, a man at my table looked the dining room and asked, "Why is everyone dressed up?" "Because it's formal night," I replied. In fact it was the third formal night so it was towards the end of the cruise. We explained that the dressing guidelines were listed in the daily Cruise Compass, which apparently they didn't read. He was dressed in sweats and sneakers as he had been for the second formal night.

I don't understand why people are allowed in in whatever if there are dress codes.

Follow up to my question earlier. We returned two days ago. We found that my husband did fine with coat/tie and that about 50% or more of those who attended formal dining were similarly attired. Quite a dearth of tuxs although I did hear one man say that he hadn't wanted to carry all the extra stuff you need for formal on an international flight. I wore a black crepe pant suit with silk blouse. If I did it again I'd have glittered that up more. Fewer evening dresses on this cruise but most women were quite glittery.

Welcome home BritChris I do hope you'll have time to do at least a short review. I also hope you had a marvelous cruise! Have you booked another?

I will do a review in the next few days. Overall a fantastic cruise. Yes, we have another one booked, but on Carnival. My brother-in-law cruises with Carnival and has asked us on three occasions to go with them. We've always turned it down previously but plan to do it this time. We are going to be in Texas for a couple of months and are planning to sail on the Conquest out of Galveston on January 24. Given we like Princess so much we are prepared to be disappointed but know we will enjoy the family time. After that we don't know except that we are doing lots of looking on the Princess website. We'd like to try a repositioning cruise.

BritChris, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Carnival is not Princess, but they really do a great job and offer a great product. I'll be patient and wait for your review
