Selecting a Cabin and Upgrades

We are sailing aboard the Star Princess leaving out of Ft Lauderdale on March 5th. Our travel agent reserved the following cabin for us:
Category.................: BD
Room Type................: Balcony
Cabin/Room...............: B238

This cabin appears to be forward. Is this a good cabin? Is a different deck or area of the ship better? The travel agent said that Princess will upgrade us to a mini suite for free if one is available. How does one go about making that happen? Thaks for any info!

The upgrade will happen if Princess has one available on the day you sail. You do not have to do anything to make it happen.

Personally we like being forward on the ship. You will feel more of the rocking motion, but we find it rocks us to sleep and we sleep great.

I've been way forward on Grand Class ships (201 on Lido) and unless there are really heavy seas, with this large a ship, you don't feel much of anything. Baja is a good deck in that you have cabin decks above and below you, so less impact from noise from public areas of any kind - ie the above mentioned Lido deck "cabin from hell" was under the treadmills and weight machines in the gym. Have also had cabins over the theater, the anchor chain, and other interesting locations. I prefer cabins on decks surrounded by other cabins. Should be fine.

While you never know, I wouldn't count on this. An upgrade from a category BD to the lowest level of mini-suites would be a four-category upgrade. The only way to ensure you get a mini-suite is to actually book one.

That said, you currently have a great cabin in a good location. I agree with Donah that it's best to have cabins both above and below you.
