Aloha deck

Hi, we will be on the Diamond Princess to Alaska this July. My cabin is on the rear of Aloha deck. I realized that the upper level is full of public activity rooms. Wonder if that will make the Aloha cabins very noisy. Plus, I get seasickness easily, is this deck too high for me? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks,

Hi Zebra123, and welcome to cruise-chat;
I think I can put your mind at ease here; I've been on the Diamond Princess and her sister, Sapphire Princess and, while I was not on Aloha deck, I never once heard anybody complain about noise on Aloha deck from above; and people are usually pretty vocal about things like that. The only things that can cause problems are jogging tracks, shuffleboard courts and basketball courts--none of which are above Aloha.
And I've never read a post here complaining of noise from above.
As for motion, Diamond Princess rides like a "Cadillac on an interstate", to borrow an expression from our beloved guru, Dave Beers. The bridge will make an announcement if they are expecting rough water so you can take your antidote of choice way in advance.
Aloha deck aft is actually a great location because of its proximity to the Horizon Court buffet, the Calypso Reef and Pool, and my favorite place on the ship, the Terrace Pool at the very back of Aloha deck.

We were on the Aloha deck on the Sea Princess. It was great. We were not bothered by any noise and as f-mattox states, it's close to the buffet. I get up early, so I'd hop up to the buffet and bring coffee to my hubby in the morning. Then we'd enjoy our sunrises on the balcony. It was a wonderful location. Best wishes!

My husband and I were on the Aloha deck on the Grand Princess. We actually had one of the oceanview cabins at the actual rear of the ship. Our window faced out of the back. We never felt any movement, nor heard any noises. It was great walking out of our room right up to the Terrace pool. It was almost like our own balcony. Have a great time!
