Which side should our cabin be on? Everyone says Port side.... Why if it's just going in to Gatun Lake and then back again? Help please!!!

Hi Georgeann, Welcome to Cruise-Chat.
Good question, why?... You will be seeing both sides of the canal. Some Panama Canal cruises are one way, that's probably why everyone says the port side. Then again, if you're on top deck you can see both sides. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...n_confused.gif We never stay in our cabin when doing the Panama Canal.

yeah, i agree with the above post. We did the Panama Canal 21 days on the Coral and booked a mini-suite. It takes a whole day to get through the canal so you can move about really.

Have a great time, it's one of our favorite cruise and my friend and I were in our early 30's.

We just came back from the Panama Canal cruise on the Sun and had a starboard cabin. If you are up front on the open decks - you can see everything. The only thing I missed by being on the starboard side was the French cut, the canal that was begun by the French before we got involved. After experiencing the first set of locks from up on top - I went back to our balcony and enjoyed everyting from there. I needed to escape from all the people on deck and from the sun-it was very hot-the last thing I needed was a sun burn. The cruise through Gatun Lake was awesome. Enjoy.
