Hellybelly, we were going to do the Grand, but changed our minds to the Royal. Rats, we would have been on the same cruise. Oh well, we'll keep our eyes out for the Grand, too!
Hello, no we are leaving San Juan on Dec. 7th on the Carribean Princess. I see what you mean about the Vac required. This is not on our iterary and we are stopping in Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, Tortola, and St. Thomas US virgin island. I will double check on iterary to see if they have added this or not.
Thanks.
As you can see there is no comments about any vaccinations, so I don't understand. I have talked to our family doctor and out travel agent and they indicate that it's our choice if we want any of these vaccinations and there is no requirement as they know of to get the vaccinations.
Thanks for your comments as it has open our eyes and see what is require.
We've been to Tortola, Antigua, Trinidad, and Barbados before and no vaccinations were required. I don't know why, except for maybe Devil's Island. I don't know why they put the requirements next to the other islands because we've never had it before. Oh well, we're covered now
Hi KLandolfi, welcome to Cruise-Chat. We are sailing on the Royal Princess the 23rd of December. I am so excited to get back to the smaller ship, less traveled ports type of cruising. We're from Alabama, though, not Oaklahoma. Hope to see you on board. I'm 55, 5'6" with loads of freckles and blonde hair, my hubby is 60, about 5'8" with glasses and brown hair. I do have some photos posted from the Emerald, and there's one of us in there. I was bald then, but the hair has started growing back now. Here's the link if you'd like to see the Emerald. The Royal would fit in her bow Hope to see y'all on board!
Thank you for your reply!
We have sailed previously on Holland but really liked this itinerary and the small ship. Have you sailed on the Royal before? My husband is in his upper 30s and I am in my lower 40s. We dont have any "human" children but we have 3 wonderful kitty cats.
Do you know what the age range is like on the ship? We are actually more of the quiet type and enjoy Holland because we have been among some of the youngest on the ship!
We are getting our immunizations next week. Does anyone know if they are really painful ( I hate needles!).
I will check out your pics. I am sure we will run into each other as it is such as small ship!
Do you know anything about the ports? We are taking an excursion with Cosol tours on St. Lucia and are hoping to do a helicopter tour to Montserrat while on Antigua.

Hi KL, no we've never sailed on the Royal before, she's a pretty new ship. The demographics on this cruise will probably be a little be older than normal because of the length of the cruise. The shot didn't hurt any more than a flu shot. We've been to a few of the ports before, Barbados, St. Lucia, and Antigua. We're going to Folkstone Underwater Park in Barbados, a catamaran snorkel in St. Lucia, English Harbor in Antigua, the Baths in Virgin Gorda. Princess didn't offer any excursions in Devil's Island, but I definitely want to do one there. We're doing a beach break in Tobago, and a snorkel in St. Barthelemy. I love snorkeling, but my hubby isn't too enthusiastic about it, so I can't snorkel in every port. A helicopter tour sounds fantastic. You'll love St. Lucia, it's a beautiful island. I really think you'll enjoy Princess, they're our favorite line, so far. We've been on HAL, NCL, RCL, Costa, Carnival, and Princess. I love them all, but Princess just seems to do it a bit better. I sure hope that holds true for this cruise, it's a great itinerary!
Hello again-
Yes- I saw that it had joined the line fairly recently. it looks like a beautiful ship.
We also sailed on Royal Caribbean and Carnival (only once each time) but some friends of ours just took a Princess cruise last month and before. Do you know if you can get the main dining room meals delivered to your room? I saw your pics of the Emerald- they were gorgeous!
If you find any tours on Devil's Island independently, please let me know as we would be interested also. We are hoping that they will have the helicopter thing going in Antigua but are not sure because of the recent eruption. I am supposed to check back around the end of the month.
I love to snorkel but my husband has never been. I enjoy the beach things more than he does. He prefers more of the "places" like the volcano tour etc.
Was Sabatini's good? I would like to book a night there. We've never done one of the specialty restaurants before and being italian, would really like to try it.
Neither of you would be chance enjoy playing chess would you? my husband is a tournament player and is hoping to find someone on board to play with for fun maybe once or twice. We just took a chess cruise last year on Holland it was great but it took up a lot of his time and he didnt get to relax quite as much as he wanted to since he had to be at the rounds at certain times.

My travel agent contacted Princess and they advise her that there is no requirement for a Yllow Fever vaccination for the Carribean, just for South America.
I hope that this is good information for everyone.
