Fire on the Star Princess

Am reading reports of a fire on the Star Princess in the Carribean. One passenger killed and several others with smoke inhalation. Reports say the fire started in a cabin.
Our prayers are with the family and all others who are effected by this trajedy.

thank you so much for the information, OMG it is so sad. I am sure Princess will notify us if we can not sail on May 13, 2006. Looks doubtful ::-( :-(

Thankfully, the injuries were not as bad as they could have been. My prayers go out to all on board, especially the family of the one fatality. Hope everyone will get home safely.

My heart goes out to all that were on the ship and let's pray there are no more fatalities. OMG and of course prayers to those that lost a love one.

Maybe this be a wake up call to all that cruise, rules are made for our safety! My friend is going on Grand Princess in Aug. She wants to know if she can take an iron, and I said well you are not suppose to use them on board. I had her look at the horrible picture, and said, Let's hope someone didn't forget to turn off their iron! OH my I am so sad!

Sadly, I think a fire at 3AM was someone smoking a cigarette. I am a bit stunned to see how quickly the fire spread and how many staterooms were affected. I would have thought that the ship was a bit more modular, each room being more self-contained, but obviously that is not the case.

Our thoughts and prayers for the family who lost someone and for all others involved.

I agree with you Lana, I was totally amazed it was so spread out. I hate to admit it, but I am a smoker and I always make sure that my cigarette is extinguished when smoking on the balcony of our room. I usually take a little water in a glass to make absolutely sure. My thoughts and prayers to all on board, especially the family that had the fatality. I hope all will get home safely and the Star will be sailing soon.

Very tragic.
I am awaiting word from my friends who work on the Star.
I too am shocked by the spread of the fire.
