Sun Princess 27 Feb Price Drop

We booked some time ago for this cruise paying $999 each for a JJ grade inside cabin on Caribe deck.

Surfing for possible future cruises I noticed that Princess had dropped the price for all inside cabins except II grade to $899.

Not having experienced this before I contacted my travel agent and asked what should happen. Should we be entitled to a price reduction or an onboard credit for the $100? She has just come back to tell us that Princess have reduced the price by $100 so we will only pay the new $899 price.

I am happy with that but left with the lurking suspicion that if I had not noticed and raised the matter we would have paid the higher price when our final balance is due in a few days.

Would you expect your travel agent to pick up on this, or should the cruise line automatically reduce the fare?

We have had two similar experiences with princess. In both cases, when we were paying our final bill I asked our travel agent if there were any price reductions. She called Pricess and we were ofered a reduced price on the room or an upgrade. I'm sure that Princess would not have gone out of their way to inform us. I guess it's best to keep your ear to the ground and do homework, as you did. I'm not sure that's something I like about the line but we'll be going on our 4th. cruise with Princess this spring so they must be doing something right in our mind

If you are booking thru a travel agent my expectation would be is that it is THEIR responsibility to check for price reductions for you & communicate this information.
If I booked it myself I would take the owness & call Princess to check on the price differences if some are seen.

A good travel agent will keep tabs on prices and rebook you at a lower fare. At least that is what my travel agent does all the time. She is great!
