Hi was considering a cruise to the Caribbean but what i have herd at work about the Caribbean wasn't so great. Is this really true? My co-workers said that "most people were from Florida looking for a cheap vacation and were very disrespectful" (I have nothing wrong with people from Florida) . I'm not sure what to think so any info helps.

Hi cruiseboy170, welcome to Cruise-Chat. We have our 19th cruise coming up in a few weeks, number 20 in January. All of our cruises have been to the Caribbean. I have never heard of anything so far from the truth. There are some islands that are friendlier than others, but the Caribbean people are some of the friendliest in the world. The water is beautiful, the weather is great, and most of the islands are clean. I've met people from all over the world on board the ships. I don't know where your co-workers have been, but for the most part, they are wrong. Best wishes and I do hope you decide to try it for yourself. I bet you'll end up like the rest of us, addicted to cruising. Once again, welcome aboard.

I have only done caribbean cruises and love it. I always say I'm going to do something different the next time but once you've been to the caribbean & get familiar with things you want to keep going back & try new things. I don't think you will be disappointed & I agree you will become addicted. I just wish I could afford to go on more cruises.

Hi Cruiseboy,

Are you referring to the clientele on the ships? If so, it's just like anywhere else in the world. There are some people who are great, and there are some people who are obnoxious. Whether or not you'll have fun on a cruise all depends on your attitude. You also have a choice as to how much interaction you want to have with the other passengers. At any rate, I've personally never been on a bad cruise. I'm going on my fourth next year. In my opinion, the Caribbean is wonderful. Have fun!

Most of our 19 cruises have been to the Caribbean....the others to Alaska....Being from Minnesota, the Caribbean in the winter is like going to heaven....some places aren't as nice as others, but we never see ice and snow down there....Go....you will have a wonderful time..and once you cruise...well...it just doesn't end....Enjoy your trip...

A BAD CRUISE ?? You make your own cruise, the people on the islands, the crew, your fellow passangers are a mixture of nice and not so nice folks. That said, I have my favorite ports, and now just choose cruises with itneraries I like. But the truth is, I've noticed the islands I didn't like are not on many itineraries anymore. If cruise passengers aren't welcomed and treated well, we let our cruise line know, and THOSE islands can say good bye to our $$$$$. Some people have bad experiences, but sometimes that came from their own bad attitudes when visiting another's homeland.

In my book, there is no such thing as a bad cruise or destination, just some that you end up liking more than others. Maybe they were talking about ports, if so, then Nassau many years ago could be skipped in my book. But, they have improved a lot. Jamaica would be next on my list to skip but folks tell me I have not seen the good side of Jamaica. Anyway, pick the number of days and then book your cruise on the dates that suit you and just have fun.
