Thanks for your pictures Sonny V. Is the picture of the Empress balcony on deck 6? That is the deck that I heard has the obsturcted view and the deck that we are booked on. Can't wait for vacation!
No, the none of the balcony pictures are of the Empress; I've never been on the Empress. The Empress has been transferred to Pulmantur, which is the Spain based cruise and tour operation.
Oh! my first cruise was on the Empress--she was the Nordic Empress then and pretty darn new. It was the beginning of a very compelling addiction. Funny what sticks in your mind about that first experience: Our waiters were Jose and Roy (I knew that without looking it up) and the moment we knew we were hooked was when every person on our table for 10 ordered prime rib, each wanting it done a different way, and when the plates came you could distinguish, easily, rare, medium rare, medium, and so forth. It may sound funny but that was a real defining moment for us for future travel: feeding 1600 people and having that kind of quality control, that was for us! Having her move on from RCCL premium fleet makes it feel like it was a long time ago.

do you happen to have any pictures of the aft balconies either on the Freedom or Independence or any other ship in that same class? Looking at booking either 7410 or 8410. From pics I have looked at it seems not much sun gets on the balcony. 7410 looks a lot bigger with the circle window. 8410 looks a little sunnier. Decisions, decisions.
Thanks

Last September I was in cabin 7394 pm the Morariner, which is a junior suite in the center of the stern on deck 7. It's close in size in comparison to a Freedom class.
Here is a picture just walking onto the balcony...
Here is a picture looking out at sea...
Notice the structural support beams extending out and around the stern of the ship. I'd rather be on either side of the ship even though the balconies are smaller.
This picture is looking over the railing, you can see the grey deck below. This is lit up a night, which I didn't like.
Thanks Sonny, lots of help. Gotta love those back balconies aye? but I'm not sure about all that structure going on. I will try to get an end balcony(hard to get though if not a regular balcony will do the trick, just want to get on board and check out that hot tub

what about cabin 7408 or 8410 on the Independence, they are on the very side at the back, would you still see all that metal structure. Also looks like they don't get much sun. is this true?
Thanks

You wouldn't like cabin 8410 because you don't have a sliding glass door. Instead, there's a single door with a window. This makes the room seem even smaller than it really is. The balcony is nice because your can look over the side. These pictures will give you enough info:
In the above picture, there is no window behind the curtain next to the door.
Hi Sonny,
You're not kidding about the room being dark & small. We were on Carnival Liberty and had an aft wrap around,(7440) balcony was huge with tons of sun and room was bright and seemed larger than other balcony cabins I have been in due to the room configuration. Wish I know how to download my pics to this chat so I could show you. Actually you probably have stayed in one of those cabins yourself. What about 7408 on the Independence one below 8410. My concern on that is there looks as if there is no sun at all and seeing we are going in Nov. we might need all the heat we can find. What would your suggestion be? or anyone else's? please and thank you.
Leigh
