Hi, we're looking at doing a trans-atlantic this fall but we can't decide which one to do.

There's the 11 day on the Brilliance and the 14 day on the Splendour. The only difference in ports is that the Splendour goes to Tenerife, Canary Islands; Nassau, Bahamas; and ends in Galveston, Texas while the Brilliance goes to Lisbon, Portugal and ends in Miami.

We can get a balcony on the Brilliance for the same price as an oceanview on the Splendour. So, which is better - getting a balcony or going for 3 extra days? And which ship is better?

thanks for any help.

Hi MayanDreamer,
Welcome to cruise-chat. While I usually select a cruise by the maximum number of days I can afford, in the case of a Splendour oceanview vs. a balcony on the Brilliance - I would definitely choose the Brilliance. Although the Splendour is a nice ship, it does not compare to the beauty of the Brilliance. The Radiance Class ships (which the Brilliance is) are my favorite mainstream cruise ships for their design, amenities and sheer elegance. RC blended the best of the Vision Class and the best of the Voyager Class to create this spelndid class of vessel. Besides, I do love a balcony! (Not that I have a opinion or anything

As for ports: Nassau is okay, but it would not draw me to the Splendour. Unfortunately, I have never been to Tenerife or Lisbon, so I do not know if those ports should be considered as important aspects of the decision. Perhaps someone who has been to both can share their thoughts (I certainly shared mine about the ships.)

IMHO, 3 days trumps Balcony....However, balcony on Radiance Class DOES beat 3 days on Splendour!

Hello Mayan Dreamer,

both ports, Tenerife with a wonderful tour over this special Canarian Island and Lisboa, beautiful city, are great.

I don`t know the Splendour, but I love the Brilliance and her sistership Jewel.
Normally I also prefer longer cruises, but the ship is also important.

Im in the same situation right know. We have different offers for the transatlantic tour in november and at the moment my favorite is the Millenium, but also shorter than other cruises.

I faced the same dilema, and ended up choosing the 14 night on X's Millenium. It was a bit more money, but check the itenirary: Barcelona, Marseille, Villefranche, Rome, Malaga, Tenerrife ending in Ft. Lauderdale.

The Transatlantic cruise with the Millenium, as written from ahoymatey3 is offered here in germany for a prive from 1133 Euro for an inside cabin in the lower categorie, including flight germany - Barcelona and Ft. Lauderdale - Germany.
We are also thinking about it, but its very late in the year for a transatlantic tour, so maybe you get very rough sea: 11-18 to 12-03.

We also have very good offers from costa, and their transatlantic cruise are sometimes 17 nights and have some very fine ports in the Caribbean included at the end of the tour:
So Costa Magica and Costa Mediterranea have very good itineraries. And I saw, that they have also special prices in the US.

Thanks everyone for your advice. We chose the balcony on the Brilliance. We've never had a balcony before so it's great we can afford one for this trip.

And it turned out even better.... when I went to book, it was $250 cheeper than the travel agent's original quote! So we're saving even more money!!!

Now we just to wait until it's time to go!!
