My wife and I are taking our first cruise on the Brilliance of the Seas in January and we aren't sure what to do about cash on shore excursions. Do they have a cash machine on the ship? Should a person always use a credit card? Or should we just bring the cash with us? I guess there is always travelers checks. If anyone can help us out on these matters we really would like to know.
Thanks

There are cash machines on board, but sometimes they dont work at different ports you pull into to. Bring some cash, but you really dont need a whole lot, you cant use cash at all on the ship, everythings credit cards, even excursions.

We always bring a bunch of cash with us and keep it in our safe. We use it at all the ports of call as well as on the ship when we pay our Seapass bill and when we tally up the tips. The cash machines are available but the service charges are outrageous!

We take $100.00 in one dollar bills, fifty for each of us to carry for tips on the way there and home for baggage etc. We then use travelers checks, no charge to cash on board. Credit card charges at cash machines are very high. We use credit cards in ports with a LITTLE cash. Figure that way if there is a problem the credit card company has a record of transaction. Just my opinion.....

I believe there are cash machines but I think the transaction fee is $5. Ouch.

I took travelers checks. Cashed one when needed; paid for everything else w/ credit card.

I use the cash machine known as the casino. Nobody says that the money needs to be gambled(although that is the only reason i ever need to get more cash). It's perfect money in hand, right to your onboard account, no additional charges.
