Well, we are down to a few weeks to go now and I have a few more things to jot down. One of them I know has been mentioned before but I have forgotten it. Which night is the best night to go to the ice show? I know one of the nights there is no after dinner show but there is the ice show and that night was recommended but I can't remember which one that is. Also, for the Johnny Rockets cover charge, do you still pay for the food or just the cover charge? Also, Sonny, what time were you able to board the Liberty?

Also, being in a J.S room, do you go by the higher tipping rate or is it meant for the Grand Suite type rooms? While on the subject of tipping, our last cruise being in '96, what is the going rate for the porters handling the bags? Is $2 per bag still considered enough? I know I have seen them ask people for tips when they shorted them or tried to not give one at all!!

I am sure there were a couple more but I can't think of them right now. Sorry for being so picky but I just have to try and learn all I can before hand!!!

Good morning Bruce,

We starting boarding at 11:40. You tip the cabin steward a little more with a junior suite. The recommended gratuites are published. Two dollars a bag is what I tip porters. I noticed they never seems to look at what you hand them, they just quickly stuff it in their pocket.

I can't recall there ever being an after dinner show when there was an ice show. Johnny Rocket food is free. You can pig out on the burgers, onion rings, and fries. Those huge sundaes are free as well as the apple pie and ice. You'll have to pay for any soft drinks.

Sonny

Thanks Sonny, I will go by the higher numbers for the tips on the room. I thought I had seen in another post where there was a night that had the ice show and not the after dinner show and that was the night they recommended. Maybe all the ships are not the same.

I think we will be in Johnny Rockets' several times! I showed our daughter the pic of the sundaes and she was all smiles!!!

It doesn't always appear they see what you handed them. In Sept on Adventure I was feeling overly generous and perhaps too tired from the flight and rush from the airport. I reached in my pocket and only had $20s on me so I palmed the porter a twenty. He tagged my bags (3 check in bags) and proceeded to escort me from the line outside the terminal directly to the counter through a side door for check-in. I doubt if it's common or fair but I didn't complain.

Cheers, Neil

Thanks Neil. I have done that a time or two, usually it is associated with someone being nicer than normal toward us or especially our daughter! We are still debating on buying the soda card for us but have decided to go ahead and buy one for our daughter.

We didn't get a large tip at all. At Port Canaveral there is a big container they throw all the tips in. As we were walking we saw large signs posted saying "Not tipping necessary" something about porters being paid a salry or something. We still gave a tip though

Sonny,

I read a review of the Liberty today that made mention of Johnny Rockets and how great it was but that you had to pay for Sundaes, malts and shakes as well as soda. Is that info incorrect, although to be honest, we are still going there!!

Yes, the food is included but you have to pay extra for drinks and specialty things like milk shakes. Also, you also have to pay a $3.95 per person cover charge. Crown and Anchor members get a coupon for one free visit.

But overall, I like Johnny Rockets and am not upset about the extra charges. Great burgers, endless plates of fries and onion rings!
