Anyone else see that RCCL officially ordered the 2nd of the Genesis class ships? According to the news burp... the first is due in 2009 this new one in 2011.
220,000 GRT and 8400 total passengers and crew (double occupancy).
That's a big ship. I wonder what the new cool feature will be. With a ship that large they could put in a NASCAR raceway..

WOW!!! that thing looks like it is going to be huge I hope this is going to be the biggest because any bigger and they may as well put apartments on it.
I CAN'T WAIT I am giddy just thinking about her. I LOVE the big ships, bigger the better for me. I like lots of activities and people watching. I do cringe at the thought of the cost of sailing on her. An inside room, will probably cost an arm and 2 legs. Anyways, as much as I want to book the inaugural cruise, I don't think I will. My husband and I were on the inaugural cruise on the Freedom with Dave. Hi Dave I was very disappointed, especially after paying much more, for the privilege of going on her first passenger paying cruise. I guess that's where our money went, paying for the privilige. My husband and I both thought, we wouldn't book anymore inaugural cruises. I guess I expected "something", what I didn't know. We did get a certificate, stating we were on the inaugural cruise. What did you think Dave? Has anyone been on a inaugural cruise before, either RCCL or any other cruise line. We will definately book the Genesis class, and if my will power holds out, it won't be the inaugural cruise. Any thoughts. Lil' Lori
Lil Lori- I can't speak for being on the inaugural cruise, but I do remember the fare discounts on the follow on cruises for the Freedom. We discussed those hear in detail. Seemed like many people did pay a premium for the privilage. I can glady wait until the fouth of fifth cruise.. by then the crew has the kinks worked out...

I hear ya! I was also let down by the lack of "something" special on that inaugural cruise. And then the certificates that were finally handed out were not personalized. Why should that be such a hard thing to do? I know we are not alone in this thinking. Everyone seemed to be disappointed - no fireworks, special gifts, etc. Having the Captain and CD tell me on the last day at sea that "yeah, we blew it" was not much consolation.
And so it is.....we have no plans to ever book an inaugural cruise with RCI again. Too much money for what is no different than any other cruise on the ship.
