We had a funny experience on our cruise in January. We were sailing on the Jewel.
My husband Don just waits for creme brulee or tiramisu. (I'm sure I spelled that wrong. Sorry!) Anyway, by the 6th night of our 10 day cruise, they had served neither.
In a joking way, he mentioned it to our waiter. In a few minutes the head waiter was at our table asking about the "problem". Don explained that it wasn't a problem, he was just a little disappointed.
The next night was Italian night and tiramisu was on the menu. BUT, when they served his dessert, they also presented him with two creme brulees fixed especially for him! He blushes easily and the other 8 people at our table had a huge laugh over the whole thing. It's a fun memory!!
I don't know if I have a point other than that the dining room crew went out of their way to grant Don's wish. So the treatment you received doesn't sound typical of RCCL.
One other thing, I have a binder full of daily itineraries from the cruise. This was in January 2009. There is detailed info about each port. I don't understand why it was different on your cruise. That is too bad because it is interesting to read about the ports.
I just hope through all the issues you had, you still had a wonderful cruise. Alaska is incredibly awesome and beautiful.
I don't care for tiramisu - I love brulee though. I don't know why people complain about food on a cruise ship, when they visit ports with people starving. Big deal if my food isn't prepared just right, or if the seasoning isn't just so. If I don't like something about the dining room I have options like the Windjammer, or one of the specialty restaurants. Sure, some ships have better food than others within the same cruise line, but I'll have to admit...any ship beats eating in most restaurants in my home area.
Thank you for the review, and your opinions of the Radiance. Looking forward to my Oct cruise on her, never been on Radiance class before. My expectations on food when they produce 10,000 meals a day on average, are just that, average. I usually go with my waiters reccomendation, they see what's going in the kitchen. We will use our OBC to dine in specialty restaurant one night. I am with Sonny again, don't care for Tiramisu, but love Creme Brulee, order it IF the waiter says it looks good. The ship sounds beautiful. Does anyone know if in a superior balcony the website description says mini bar, does that mean a fridge ??

My husband and I were on the Sovereign a few years ago and seated with 2 older couples. One of the men kept joking that the appetizers were nice, but he would really prefer peanut butter and crackers. For the last night, we talked to the head waiter at lunch and asked if he could bring some peanut butter and crackers at dinner for this guy. When dinner came, the waiter comes over with a tray. Someone had meticulously made little peanut butter and cracker sandwiches (garnished with grapes). I have never seen an old guy so happy about peanut butter and crackers! I have also never forgotten the kindness of that waiter.
Thanks Sonny, got confused after the luxury of a Junior Suite last time, ya always come through !
