Setting Spending Limit on ship for kids

Okay I have a 21 and 19 yr old that will be travelling with us. Found out today that we cabn't just put a set amount of money on their "cruise card" accounts but we can put a limit on the credit card. Has anyone done this and do they really limit what the kids can spend on the card?

I believe if you put up cash, they will only be able to charge up what you have as a credit. Not sure, but I believe it will work.

I do think that you can put money down at the pursers desk for each of their accounts and have that posted on each of their sail & sign cards, however there may be a minimum amt.
We just gave our kids $100 each in cash, and if they purchased something on the ship that got posted to their sail & sign card, they just paid us from their cash flow, that seemed to have worked for us.

Putting a limit on the credit card doesn't work since the sail and sign card charges are applied to the credit card at the end of the cruise. It does not check the limits for each purchase.

The best way is to assign their cards as cash accounts (I think the minimum is $250 per card, but since you are a family of four, you may be able to put less on them.) That way, once they spend whatever you put in the card will no longer let them charge anything until you put in more money.
