Angel59920,

from my experience, the quality does vary from ship to ship so it's impossible to tell IMHO and mainly depends from one's preferences.

Just like any great restauraunt, the dishes can differ, but I have eaten at both in the last year, and found both great experiences, and dining pleasures. The intimacy of each one compared to the great dining rooms is a welcome change. And I plan on Chops again in December.

Thanks to both of you, I would love to try both but don't know if I will have time. When is the best time to go to those restauraunts?

You are a lucky girl with a Freedom class, and a choice of both....jealous !!! The most popular times to go are on a sea day, no hurries about getting back to a ship...differing thoughts for formal night. I like to see everyone dressed up, so I go to the dining room, others feel a special night, special outfits, special dining. Make reservations early when you choose what will work for you. I would take a look at both dining areas, and see what suited me. Also take a minute for a tip and a table request, hhhhmmm.

I like to check out the dining room menu for the week. I'll book Chops or Portofino's based on that. If you're a steak lover, Chops is best. Of course, Portofino's has great Italian food. I did order filet mignon in Portofino's that was mouth watering delicous, and tender enough to cut with a fork.
