I just calculated how much RCCL suggests for tipping. I was quite surprised that the amount is very minimal considering what I have heard about the phenominal service. It woudl be safe to say that I will be sure to tip extra for great service. It is such a small amount when you compare the overall price of your "perfect" vacation.

I just wanted to add that the "empty chair" thing could just be from exhaustion at the end of a wonderful and very busy cruise. You can not all assume that the empty chairs don't tip.
We did not attend our last dinner in the dinning room on the last night as we had late seating and were looking to retire early. We DID TIP our staff from the dinning room with the envelopes provided and we tipped the waiter and asst. waiter more than recommended. We simply stepped in to hand them out discreetly and then went back to our cabin.
They also have drop box that I saw that you could put them into with your table/room number on the envelopes.
I would hate to think the other diners thought that we had skipped out on it, as we were given great service and tipped in kind!
