Formal dress-wear

Hi, I am going on my first cruise in 3 weeks - An RCI cruise of the Med. Firstly, I should tell you that I am from Scotland (this will make more sense in my question!!). At the formal nights, I have seen many a quote concerning tuxedos, suits, shirts and tie etc. However, here in SCotland the national dress is the kilt and it is what we wear to weddings and formal events etc. Should/Can I wear my kilt at the formal nights??? Absolutely, you can wear the kilt on formal nights. I've seen many of them on formal nights over the years.

Our friend always wears his kilt. He also brings his bagpipe with, and has been known to walk into the dining room playing it! People seem to love it (it is short, sweet, and not obnoxiously loud--this gentleman is not a boor by any stretch of the imagination). People like to ask him for photo ops. I think they probably tell their friends they cruised to Scotland--instead of the Bahamas.
