I'm not having much luck in the port hotels and transfers section, so i thought I would try here. We leave on RCCL out of Port Canaveral Sep 30. We plan to fly in the day before. I understand it is best to fly into Orlando, but it looks like the port is a ways from the airport. What is the most cost effective way to do this? If we stay in the Orlando area we have to pay a lot for a taxi to the port, but if we stay close to the port we have to pay a lot for the taxi to the hotel from the airport. Also looking for recomendations of where to stay.

(1) I'd book a hotel/motel near the port that has shuttle service to the port (there are several)
(2) Rent a car and drive to your hotel/motel. Most rent-a-car agencies will provide a shuttle back to your hotel/motel.

I have never done this as I drive down. But my friends fly down and stay at the airport area hotels in Orlando and their travel agent gets them a bus over to the port. They pay the same if not less than I pay to park at the pier. It is a short ride over from Orlando airport as it is not really in Orlando.
Hi; you can of course take a chance and fly down the morning of your cruise, which is what we've done twice before for the Mariner and Port Canaveral. RCCL does have a bus shuttle service, which has worked fine for us before, and we've arrived in more than enough time to board the ship. The shuttle can be paid for when you book and pay for your cruise-we arrived at the airport from Chicago around 10, and were on board Mariner by noon, and eating lunch in the Windjammer right away.
Have a great time; don't worry, be happy!!!!
Jim, where do you live? We are in MI and fly out of Chicago as well. We flew down the day of for our first cruise and it is just too exhuasting, especially since we have to leave home a good 4 hours before our flight, just to be safe. So we always fly down the day before. So much more relaxing that way.
Mandi, you can go to the find link in the upper corner and type in Radisson. Then it will show the posts about the transportation and the hotel. Tanya

WE are taking a cruise in May out of of there and we are staying at Country Inn and suites which is less then a mile from port. The cost was 120 a night and looks very nice. They informed me that they have a shuttle service for three dollars to the port. As for getting there is a far ways from Orlando we want last year and it was about a hour drive I would think Taxis would be very costly, try to call car shuttles. On the way back RCCL offers a shuttle for 32 dollars one way shuttle to the airport. Well worth it in my opinion. It runs very smooth also.

We are going on Mariner of the Seas on Oct 7th. We are flying in on the 6th and staying at the Wingate Inn near the airport- it is only like 80 bucks. Then we are using RCL to get to the port. We were gonna fly in the 7th but we would have had to take a 6am flight and then we would have been wiped!

Welcome Candi to cruise-chat!! Are you sure you will be able to use the Royal Caribbean transfers the next day?? Please check to verify, Royal usually requests which airline you are coming in on and flight #'s and arrival times. They only sell the transfers if you arrive the day of. I am sure on here have been able to do it, but please verify before you leave.
