Carry Ons?

I was just curious as to what you can carry on the ship. I know they suggest to bring a change of clothes, meds, etc., but how big is the bag allowed to be? Obviously there is a size limit on an airline, as it needs to be able to fit in the overhead compartment... but since that is not the case on a ship, is there a size limit at all? What about garment bags? Are those "checked" or do those get carried on as well?

I bring the same carry on that I used on the plane. I just switch things around that I will need on the ship in case my luggage doesn't arrive on time. I usually bring a change of clothing & things I need for a shower. I always have enough & I'm ready for the night. My luggage usually arrives before dinner though.

Cruise line carry on should be similar to what you would carry on an airplane. It goes through a security check just like at the airport, so the size needs to fit through the security scan. I would check bigger bags with the porters and carry on smaller roll bags, or smaller totes. Remember your cabin may not be available until 1:30pm or so and you will have to carry your bag around.

Don't forget to carry on sun screen. You may end up on the deck or your balcony that first afternoon--just because you aren't "at the beach" the sun is still powerful.
