Celebrity vs R.C.?

I'm looking at a cruise to Mexico in December and found a 7 nite cruise with R.C. for $599 (OV) or a 6 nite cruise with Celebrity for $600 (OV). Is Celebrity enough of an "upgraded" cruise line to pay the same price for 1 less night? We can also book a 4 nite cruise on R.C. for $269 (OV). Any recommendations?

What are you hoping to get out of the cruise?
Is it the activities, food etc?
I've been on both lines, and although celebrity had the best food, they lacked(in my opinion) on the activities and things to keep the week and days at sea lively and worth coming back again for.

Activities would be most important to me. I also want places to sit down and have a beer without having music blasting all around me. My wife would be most interested in being outside near the pool.

Well, I would definitely elminate the 4 day cruise - just not even long enough to get your sea legs. As for the 6 day or 7 (I might be tempted to go with the 7 night just because I get one more day of cruising). Which specific RC and Celeb ships are your options? That might weigh in on my recommendation.

The 6 nite cruise is on Celebrity's Infinity. It's a SD-CATA-CABO-ENSE. The 7 nite cruise is on RC's Vision of the Seas and goes LA-CABO-MAZAT-PVALL.

Based on itinerary alone - I would choose the RC Vision; Ensenada would not be my choice for a port stop at all + Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta are much better options. (I love PVR).

My wife & I love P.V. It's just a shame that we won't have time to eat dinner at Pipi's.

I haven't dined there yet. Where is Pipi's and what kind of food is it. It is obviously great. I go to PV all the time surfing (I am going again this August.)

Well, I don't exactly know how to describe the location. If you stood in the main park with your back to the water and walked straight it's maybe 6-8 blocks forward and maybe 2-3 left (or right?). LOL. The food is Mexican and is excellent. I had a burrito, and it was delicious and huge. I was barely able to finish it. Plus, they come by and make the guacamole at your table and that is delicious as well. They also serve amazing, huge, strong margaritas. The food and drinks were amazing and the service was among the best I've ever experienced.
