Weather on the Mexican Riviera in October

I've scheduled a cruise on the Vision of the Seas October 12, 2008. Is this hurricane season on the Mexican Riviera? The research that I've done so far doesn't reveal past problems.

Welcom to cruise-chat. It is hurricane season but your chances of encountering storms on the Caribbean side would be much greater although still relatively low. I wouldn't worry too much about hurricanes for this trip. You may get some rain showers but don't let that dampen your spirits or enjoyment of your cruise.

The short answer is yes, it is hurricane seaseon; but they are less frequent and usually less intense than the East Coast storms. And not to worry: the ship will either out-manouver it or hold up in a port.

And just to show you how little I'm concerned about it, I'm leaving on October 11, 2008 on Sapphire Princess for the Mexican Riviera.
